Posts Tagged ‘Weather’

Read this list carefully:

  • A love of photography
  • A delight in crazy storms, wild weather, and/or tornadoes
  • A fascination in people named Mitch
  • Deep sentiment for Ansel Adams
  • A wild obsession with the grayscale

If you possess any of these things, you simply must read on and do as I advise.

Mitch Dobrowner Storm

This is a picture taken by Mitch… Mitch Dobrowner. He’s a photographer who recently traveled with a renowned extreme weather/tornado chaser. He was also greatly inspired by Ansel Adams, one of the most famous and talented photographers who ever lived and who is often considered one of the pioneers in photography as an art form. The pictures that resulted from Dobrowner’s weathery excursion are awe inspiring to say the very least.

Here’s my advice… Click the link below. It’s a link to a google image search for Mitch Dobrowner’s storm photography.

Rain

No dead horses here!

Do they fall or not? Oh the suspense!

It’s been raining a lot lately. I love rain.

Actually, I quite enjoy precipitation of any kind. Weather fascinates me. Not in a geeky-meteorologist-I-can-predict-the-weather kind of fascination, but more that of the beauty of it. I enjoy sunny days, I enjoy rainy days, I enjoy blustery days, and especially those days when you’re driving home and get attacked by a hectic hail storm (unfortunately, that’s only happened to me once).

I see power in weather. Specifically, God’s power. Strong winds that can bring down the biggest trees, thunder that can make the ground shake, tornadoes that can obliterate houses, these all demonstrate a power that is much more than we can see.

Rain is calming to my soul. I love how relaxing rainy days can be, especially right now as I’m preparing for what is sure to be a very tiring week. I’ve been in need of rest lately, and not sleep per say; todays rain has helped a lot. It’s a good day for listening to Coldplay and blogging (Oh hey! That’s what I’m doing now!).

I don’t know if you like rain or not, but I’ve been hearing a lot of people express their dislike of rain recently and that’s always bothered me. I know everyone’s entitled to their opinions, but I guess it’s just that I don’t understand when people feel that way about rain. I just find it so beautiful, I don’t understand how someone couldn’t like it.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:10-11 (ESV)

P.S. Don’t even get me started about sun showers!!  :D

P.P.S. Check out Tony’s blog, it’s quite scrumptious!

Edit: Oh and please don’t worry. I won’t look down on you if you dislike rain… All I’m saying is I don’t really understand why anyone would have that opinion.
