This post serves solely as a reminder for you and for me. Consider the things you need to get done and the time you have to do it. Don’t waste time, as it will affect your own desires and abilities to get things done. If you’re anything like me, you love to procrastinate and justify that procrastination as a normal thing and that you’ll get done what you need to get done eventually. However, getting things done right away is self-fulfilling and eliminates the danger of finding out that any given task will take much longer than you expected.

I urge you to consider the things that you have to get done for the day and get working on them. Free time is much more satisfying without the underlying pressure of neglected responsibilities. Granted, sometimes we do need a break when we’re trying to get something done. I am all for that, but I do warn against letting that get out of hand. While taking a break is distinctly different from procrastinating, it is easy to blur that line and take a much longer break than needed; to pass off our procrastination as “taking a break”. Don’t fall into that trap.

If you’re one of those people like me who are bad at time management, do something about it. Don’t use the excuse that that’s simply how you are. Getting things done is worth it. You will thank yourself later.

I’m a college student. Weird.

Entering college has brought a strange shift that took me from the blindside. Last year I was a senior. This year I’m a f******* (censored due to the terrifyingly humiliating nature of the word).

I actually really like it. I wasn’t a fan of walking around and feeling like people were looking at me and thinking, “Ooohh senior!” (although that may have just been my ego talking. I never can be too sure). Now’s a chance to start from the bottom up again. I like that chance. I’m in a position again where I work for people’s respect rather than expect it (yeah… More ego).

I was thinking earlier today about the term, f*******, and what it means.

  • Fresh… Okay, good. Fresh start. Fresh is new, people like new. People like fresh (people don’t like f*******).
  • Men… Sophomore, junior, senior; apparently f******* are the only real men in the whole bunch… Otherwise, they wouldn’t bother putting it in the title. Yeah! I’m one of those!
  • [the empty space between the letters]… Yeah. There’s a lot of that in my head too.
Things have been great so far. Albeit a bit stretching as I’m working out all the schedule stuff and am learning how to make time to study. I feel more on my own, and I like it. I’m preparing myself for the real world, although, when it comes right down to it, I’m sure when I get there, I still won’t feel prepared.
For now, I’ll study hard, be responsible, make friends, and live life!

… As a f*******.

I think this video speaks for itself.

Because of that, I’m not going to say anything about it except that I think it’s a must-see. Not a Star Wars kind of must see, but the more serious kind… Watch it. If your computer can handle it, I’d highly recommend watching it on fullscreen.

God is good. So good.

Stuffs

My life has been quite interestingwonderfulawesome as of late.

Last week I was at Urban Hope working with a ministry they run called Kingdom Kids Daycamps. Basically, for a whole week, you get to play with kids every day and teach them about Jesus. In my opinion, it doesn’t get much better. It was quite the challenge at times, as I was on the team with 10-12 year old boys who loved to fight. Nevertheless, it was so worth it, and wouldn’t have given it up for anything.

Halfway through that week, my mom called me to tell me I’d gotten a job interview at a music store I’d applied to a month before. The interview was on Monday, and I think it went really well. I’ll find out by the end of the week whether they’ve chosen me or not. Your prayers for this would be greatly appreciated… I’ve been really needing a job for a while.

My sister Julie is home from Nebraska for a couple weeks right now. My family’s been doing a lot together recently because of that and it’s been really grand.

That’s about all that’s happened recently, but there’s even more coming up that I’m even more excited about… Thursday I’m going with my girlfriend to see the stage version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Friday I’m going to the beach with my family and girlfriend (this is also the day that marks nine months since she and I started dating!), and then sometime soon (I’m not exactly sure when) my family’s going up for a short vacation at my grandfather’s cabin near the Pocono’s.

So there’s a little taste of what my life has been like lately… and much of the reason I haven’t been posting much at all on here. I’ve also been thinking a lot about how I’m going to college in just two months (62 days to be exact). It’s a little hard to believe.

I know this is a pretty long post, so I don’t exactly expect you to read it all. I hope and pray that you all have a really wonderful day! :)

P.S. My girlfriend started a 365 project… If you haven’t seen any of her photography, prepare to have your mind blown! I would highly suggest following along. http://blithful.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/365/
